Dora is a very positive little girl and never gets in fights or gets angry, even when she encounters a villain in one of her adventures. Another show that’s popular on Nick Jr. is the Backyardigans. The Backyardigans is another animated series, like Dora the Explorer, which follows a group of pre-school friends named Uniqua, Pablo, Tyrone, Tasha and Austin as they go on adventures in their backyard. They have great imaginations and transform their backyard into all sorts of things and places. For example, one episode they could be climbing a mountain and singing along with chirping birds and the next swimming in a tropical ocean playing with the dolphins. The Backyardigans is deigned and written for children a little bit younger than Dora the Explorer and is probably best suited for children ages two to five. Kids really enjoy the characters and are encouraged to play and sing along with them during the episodes. The producers and creators of the show incorporate many different types of music into the show, such as big band; reggae and hip hop in order to expose children to a variety of musical forms. Obviously all content and lyrics are age appropriate and engaging with the young audience.
